You Are Welcome.
How to Apply
You may be pregnant and unsure of where you will be living when baby arrives. You’ve dreamt of a place where you and your baby would be welcomed. Where the first days and weeks after birth are supported with meals and times when you can truly rest. You’ve been seeking safety and a place to curl up and enjoy and celebrate the unique experience of being pregnant.
Sometimes, an unexpected pregnancy interrupts your current housing. You may be a student, or a young professional living in shared housing that is not suitable for a little one. Your roommates may have opinions about sharing their accommodations with a baby. We get it. The cost of housing makes shared living necessary, and it can be almost impossible to find affordable housing for a single person.
Perhaps the pregnancy has revealed that the people you depended on were not that dependable. You may find yourself isolated from community and your housing may seem unstable. Our hope is to lessen the burden of being lonely and feeling vulnerable. There is more to the Nest than just a roof over your head. The program is designed to foster connection and safety.
Embracing your pregnancy may shift your priorities because you are starting to think like a parent. A safe, nurturing home suddenly becomes priority number one. The Nest is not a forever home, but it can be a forever family.
If you are pregnant and wanting to join the program, please connect with Cedar Pregnancy Care Centre in Vancouver by calling 604-731-1122. They will make an appointment with you to set up intake as a centre client to receive prenatal and parenting support from the centre in cooperation with the NEST.
Once your intake is complete and your housing needs are identified, an application to the home may be submitted.
Currently we have a waitlist but will accept new applications.
If you are another organization and would like to refer a woman to the home, please email info@nestmaternityhome.ca.
